Buying shoes on the Costa del Sol
We measure feet. It sounds obvious, but golf shoe sizing varies by more than a full size across brands and lasts, and a shoe that is half a size short is the reason most golfers think their feet just hurt after 18 holes. FootJoy in particular runs multiple widths, and we stock the wide fittings that most shops here do not.
Spiked versus spikeless comes down to where you play. On the firmer inland courses in high summer, spikeless is comfortable and grips fine. On Valle Romano's slopes after winter rain, or on morning dew, replaceable soft spikes are worth having. Plenty of our regulars own one of each.
